Em uma edição história, a edição 2020 do VMA foi ao ar na noite de domingo (31) e provou que mesmo com a pandemia, ainda é uma das mais importantes premiações do mundo da música.
Como a gente já tinha te contado aqui no site da União FM, Ariana Grande e Lady Gaga lideraram as indicações para o evento e brilharam em uma apresentação pré-gravada. Aliás, a noite sem dúvida foi da Gaga, que subiu ao palco várias vezes, inclusive ganhando o primeiro prêmio da transmissão por “Melhor Colaboração” por seu single de sucesso “Rain On Me”. Ela também levou mais dois dos maiores prêmios da noite, como “Artista do Ano” e “Música do Ano”.
O super grupo de K-pop BTS também ganhou vários VMAs, enquanto o Machine Gun Kelly levou o prêmio de “Melhor Artista Alternativa” com seu single “Bloody Valentine”. Doja Cat confirmou o favoritismo e ganhou o prêmio de “Artista Revelação”. A cantora Miley Cyrus surpreendeu em uma apresentação incrível com uma pequena releitura do videoclipe de “Wrecking Ball”.
A cantora Taylor Swift venceu por “Melhor Direção” pelo videoclipe da música “The Man”, e enviou uma mensagem em vídeo de aceitação diretamente de sua casa. O vídeo do ano, o melhor VMA, foi para o The Weeknd por seu hit “Blinding Lights”. Ele abriu a transmissão com uma apresentação do single.
